Tony Collins sends in a few extra views of Saracen Park

Saracen Park is a histroic venue and has a main stand and paddock. It is also used by the Glasgow Tigers speedway team who get crowds of around 650. There is a terraced stand in one corner with a piestall at the top. Behind the Springburn end goal is Glasgow Tigers' club that serves drinks. Opposite the stand is a section of terracing with crush barriers.

The actual pitch is very narrow, measuring exactly 50 yards. It was narrowed to accommodate the wide corners of the speedway track that replaced the previous dogtrack.

Social Club: There is no Ashfield club but you can buy drinks at two venues in and around the ground.

Club Information:
Ashfield used to suffer from Petershill signing up most of their better players. Crowds are very small, normally less than the amount of players on the pitch.

In places Loch Park is a bit tatty, with a small, ramshackle covered enclosure down one side in a corner. However, an excellent set of changing rooms with a sponsors bar upstairs was recently completed, as well as a players lounge which doubles as a social club on matchdays. The ground is completely terraced elsewhere, although a new bench-seated stand (which will have a capacity of around 250) is currently is well under construction at the halfway point of the home side, by the home dugout. Across the road is the Glens Bar, a pub that has a link with the side, and served as the official social club until they built their own one.

Social Club: There is a function room that I believe is open on matchdays. Otherwise it's the Glens Bar.

Club Information:

Crowds for Glenafton are pretty small (around 100), although the numbers grow for big cup ties.

There is a vast covered enclosure (ironically with the words Whiteinch Demolition Ltd written on the roof) runs the length of the ground, but it nowadays only has a capacity of 500 and two thirds of it are closed. The terracing has been demolished behind both golas and halfway down the side opposite the enclosure as part of ongoing work to improve the ground. There once was quite a good social club but it closed down. There is a pie hut between the Members Bar and the changing rooms.

Five views of Brig O'Lea from Grumberry

Four views of Brig O'Lea from Ryan Kelly

The ground is very exposed to any strong winds blowing down off the hills, and unfortunately the reasonably sized covered enclosure (which holds around 150) is no protection from the harsh chill. Brig-O-Lea is another of the few Central League venues with floodlights although they are probably mainly used for training purposes. Opposite the enclosure can be found the tea bar and the changing rooms as well as a few lines of rotting wooden sleeper terracing.

Western Park from Steve Broughton

There is no social club but there are plenty of pubs and cafes within a couple of minutes walk. Although the ground is in somewhat of a state of disrepair, work carries on and a hard working team of committee and volunteers hope to make Western Park look the part for their debut in the Stagecoach Premier League.
