Tony Collins sends in a few extra views of Saracen Park

Saracen Park is a histroic venue and has a main stand and paddock. It is also used by the Glasgow Tigers speedway team who get crowds of around 650. There is a terraced stand in one corner with a piestall at the top. Behind the Springburn end goal is Glasgow Tigers' club that serves drinks. Opposite the stand is a section of terracing with crush barriers.

The actual pitch is very narrow, measuring exactly 50 yards. It was narrowed to accommodate the wide corners of the speedway track that replaced the previous dogtrack.

Social Club: There is no Ashfield club but you can buy drinks at two venues in and around the ground.

Club Information:
Ashfield used to suffer from Petershill signing up most of their better players. Crowds are very small, normally less than the amount of players on the pitch.

Tinto Park is has perhaps seen better days. The large covered enclosure is perforated with holes in the roof but is in immaculate condition compared to the rest of the ground. Opposite the covered terracing and behind the south end goal is a large bank of stepped terracing that has completely disintegrated into the earth below. There is a section of newer terracing at the turnstiles.

Club Information:
A club with a small home support (varying between 60 - 130) that play in the shadow of Ibrox although 1500 turned up in January 2000 for a game with Kilwinning Rangers. The club really struggled in 2002-03 financially and went through a string of managers. The future is sadly very uncertain for this historically big club.

Somervell Park from Paul Crankshaw

Tony Collins sends in a Somervell gallery

The turnstiles at Somervell Park are located behind the social club in one corner of the ground, and a teabar can be located on one side of the social club. Somervell has a tidy and spacious covered enclosure (decked out in blue) with concrete steps. There isterracing behind the goal nearest to the social club, and a more tatty section down the side opposite the enclosure. The other end of the ground (by the Hoover factory) is nothing more than an undeveloped, overgrown and tatty grass bank.

A nice sheltered venue (Broadwood take note...). There is a large enough covered enclosure, and behind one goal is the changing facilities. Cumbernauld Village seems to perch precariously above Guys Meadow which itself lies at the edge of woodland. Supporters can only stand on two sides of the ground. There is a well-stocked pie stall, although the fayre is terrible.

Keanie Park from Tom Ferrie

The main feature of the well-kept ground is the covered enclosure opposite the terraced side where the home support congregates. It probably holds a couple of hundred. Behind both goals are sections of grass banking, while more cover can be found next to the pie-stall which is inside the club's main building.

The nearest pub is the Thorn Inn, but Coanes' in the town centre is where to drink.

Burgh have plans to relocate to a new ground at the Thomas Shanks Memorial Park, just off Beith Road, sometime soon.

Social Club: There is no social club

Club Information:
Johnstone have a home support of around 200. An OVD Cup tie between Burgh and Glenafton in February 2000 attracted a 2000 plus gate. The ladies toilets are excellent apparently. Most members of the club's committee are under 40 (mid 20s to mid 30s) which would make it the youngest committee in the juniors. The club also has 150 season ticket holders and take around 100 fans away from home. Home fans congregate behind the dugouts and by the turnstiles.

Record attendance: 14,000 v Greenock in 1964. JB won the cup that year.

Two views of Gasworks Park from 'Grumberry'

A selection of photos from Stuart Brown

Entry is at either end of the ground, with the home fans tending to come in at the clubhouse end. A covered enclosure runs down just under two thirds of one side and provides cover for a good couple of hundred. All other parts of the ground are pretty much flat grassed areas.

Three views of Craighead Park from 'Grumberry'

A selection of photos from Stuart Brown

Craighead Park is an odd ground. The high-roofed stand structure is quite small, holding a few hundred, and the terracing mainly consists of very steep grass banking, although one end seems to have no boundary as it rises into a mini-mountain before disappearing into a forest. Surely there is a means of getting free admission from here? At the opposite end is a small section of terracing, next to the social club. The terrace continues onto the side opposite the stand.

Tony Collins sends in additional Lochburn views

A compact ground that is devilishly hidden at the top of a hill off Lochburn Road, a red and black gate is the main entrance. Inside the ground is a health club (entry on non-matchdays is via the turnstiles!) and shop selling the usual club merchandise and fantastic pies. The pitch itself is sunk six feet below the terracing - a somewhat bizarre site. A covered terrace runs down one side of the ground and is bisected by the players tunnel.

Behind the goal opposite to the turnstiles is a brand-new section of multicoloured open bucket seating, built in time for season 1998-99. The health club is strangely positioned at the halfway line but its overhanging roof provides extra cover for anyone caught in a heavy downpour on the wrong side of the pitch. Lochburn Park is also one of the few grounds in the juniors to have floodlights.

Club Information:
Maryhill are in terms of post-war history not a particularly strong junior side. However, they have a wealthy backer than improved both the team and the ground. Maryhill get gates of around 100-150.

The Ants played at Moore Park in Govan for decades, but it was sold for development. They then moved to play at Glasgow Perthshire in 1999-2000 before taking up with Benburb for a couple of seasons. Millburn Park from Stephen McMurray

Capacity: 3000
Seats: none
Cover: There is just about a covered enclosure - half the roof is missing!

A relic from a previous time, Millburn Park is 'a bit of a dump'. There is a pie stand at the pavilion (which looks like a blockhouse in Kosovo), but the pitch however is superb. There once was a huge covered enclosure, but half of the roof has since gone missing - and therefore doesn't provide much sanctuary in a gale. All four sides are concrete step terraced.
